Classical Ballet and Ballet Technique classes are the foundation for training and focus on developing a solid ballet technique with emphasis on understanding correct body placement, proper use of turn out, coordination of the upper body, and use of arms. Students will learn classical ballet techniques and terminology. Each class includes barre exercises, center floor work, and across-the-floor combinations. The ballet curriculum is based on a combination of the French, Vagonova and Cecchetti methods. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Beginning pointe class can be taken on flat or in pointe shoes at the instructor's discretion. All pointe classes are designed for students with previous ballet training. Students will utilize previously learned ballet technique while working in pointe shoes. Classes includes barre exercises, center floor work and across the floor combinations. These exercises focus on strengthening the feet and ankles.
Jazz class will focus on learning proper dance technique such as isolations of the body, improving performance quality and developing complex rhythms and patterns. Students will be exposed to various styles of jazz such as Classical, Broadway, Street and Contemporary to help develop a well rounded dancer. Class curriculum is based on ballet technique layered with traditional jazz movement and includes a proper warm-up, stretches, isolations, across-the-floor progressions, and combinations. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Tap classes are designed to develop rhythm, style and sound. Students will learn a variety of tap styles from Stomp to Broadway to Rhythm tap. Exercises focus on building flexibility of the knees and ankles, coordination, and speed of movement. The class emphasis is on developing proper tap technique, producing clear tap sounds, and having fun. As students progress through each level, curriculum will become increasingly more complex and intricate.
Acro uses strength and flexibility to perform gymnastic-based tricks. In this class, students perform conditioning exercises to prepare them for increased difficulty. It teaches flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. As students progress through the levels of Acrobatics, they will learn increasingly difficult skills and how to connect previously mastered skills.
Hip-hop is a high-energy class that infuses the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Classes will encourage students to step outside of the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements.
Musical Theater class is an exploration of American Musical Theatre. This class will focus on applying and bringing together the disciplines of singing, acting, and dancing, to create an effective presentation and use their gained knowledge to develop as performers.
AcroFusion is designed for the young tumbler who wants to learn and master basic acrobatic skills. Students will learn flexibility, balance, strength, and coordination. AcroFusion is the precursor to our Acrobatics program.
The goal of the preschool program is to instill a love of dance. Our youngest dancers learn basic ballet and tap movements in a positive and fun environment. Proper technique is taught through creative dances and imagination.
